Sage Nutri Juicer review
– including whether a Juicer or Blender is the ideal choice
If you want to consume more fruit and veg without them being piled high on your plate, then a Juicer or Blender is the answer.
Your decision to choose either a Juicer or Blender depends on what you’d like the end result to be:
- if you’d like a nutritious drink that’ll be quickly absorbed into your bloodstream and give you a boost of energy, then a Juicer is your ideal choice
or
- if you’d like a machine that has the option of making a nutritious drink (and you’re not too bothered that the fibre’s included) as well as some soups, dips, or crushed ice, then a Blender is more suited to your purpose
As with all kitchen appliances, there’s a huge variety available and the cost of either a Juicer or Blender can vary between the £10 value range to the more expensive £500+.

In most instances, you get what you pay for so it’s definitely worth doing some window shopping and reading reviews before making your purchase.
I recall reading a review in which a lady said she was really happy that she’d bought the Vitamix (which is an expensive food processor/blender) but joked that she wasn’t going on holiday that year – so you see, some people view these appliances as a long term investment and are prepared to pay for the quality and durability.
Vitamix is well known in the industry to be worth every penny – it’s top of the range, excellent quality and has a 7 year warranty!
Use a Juicer or Blender for a quick, healthy lifestyle
How to choose the best value, good quality Juicer or Blender
Having read Part One, you’ve probably already decided whether to use a Juicer, a Blender, or both – these are the features you should consider including:
- enough wattage power to suit purpose
- suitable size to fit in your kitchen
- large enough feed chute
- sufficient accessories
- ease of use
- ease of cleaning
- variable speeds (including pulse function if a Blender)
- dishwasher safe
- cost to suit budget
- great reviews
Before making a choice, it’s a good idea to read as many reviews as possible and watch YouTube videos to see the Juicers and Blenders in action.
With criteria to hand, we decided to kick the ball out of the budget park and get the high quality Nutri Juicer Plus, which I’ll review here.
In Part 3, I’ll review the Blenders: we chose the Ninja Master Prep Pro which is powerful enough to process food as well as make smoothies. But, you know what it’s like in a family when everyone has a different reason for using an appliance and wants their own? Well, that’s what happened with us. So, I’ll also review the Breville Blend-Active.
Firstly:
The Juicer
Sage™ The Nutri Juicer™ Plus
Sage by Heston Blumenthal (the Michelin starred celebrity chef) created The Nutri Juicer which has three models ranging from approximately £150 to £300.
The Nutri Juicer uses the centrifugal juicing method, ie the food is pushed into a rapidly spinning mesh filter with a serrated base to shred the food. The juice is then pulled through the mesh into the jug.
The reason I chose a centrifugal juicer was because, when weighing up the pros and cons, I read that quality centrifugal juicers have already sought to minimise any adverse heat loss. The Nutri Juicer has less than 2 degrees of heat transfer which means that it still maximises the nutritional value of the juice.
So, with the minimum amount of heat transfer and significant speed increase (compared to a masticating juicer), I decided that a centrifugal juicer would be fine for my family.
Features of The Nutri Juicer
The Nutri Juicer’s made to a high standard, with even its basic model having a more powerful motor and capability than other brands’:
- The Nutri Juicer
– pulp container capacity: 3 litres
– juice jug capacity: 1 litre with froth separator
– feed chute size: 84mm wide for whole fruit and veg
– speeds: 2
– stainless steel Nutri Disc™ (titanium reinforced cutting blades) retains up to 40% more nutrients than other juicers
– safety lock mechanism
– cord storage in base
– cleaning brush
– brushed chrome housing, stainless steel micro mesh juicing filter, plastic pulp and juice collection baskets
– power: 1200 watts
– warranty: 1 year replacement with 5 year motor
-
The Nutri Juicer Plus
as above, but:
– juice jug capacity: 1.2 litres
– speeds: 5 with LCD screen
– Froojie™ Disc also included for maximum yield of soft fruit and vegetables
– power: 1300 watts
- The Nutri Juicer Pro
as above, but:
– power: 1500 watts
– warranty: 2 year replacement with 5 year motor
All of The Nutri Juicer models have a high quality brushed chrome appearance, great features and lots of positive reviews.
I chose The Nutri Juicer Plus as I think the added benefits are worth the additional price – especially with the Froojie Disc.
I agree that it’s expensive and, ideally, I would have preferred to have bought a less expensive juicer (wouldn’t we all?). However, having read the Juicer reviews and seeing that you get the quality you pay for, it seemed the best choice was the Sage choice.
What’s it like using The Nutri Juicer Plus?
Health and the fruit/veg mix
When we first bought The Nutri Juicer Plus, it was a novelty and we were constantly making juices; we learned alot about which fruit and veg to use and which mixes we liked.
It’s amazing how much juice is created.
Most of the time, the juice tastes awesome regardless of which fruit and veg you use – partly because you tell yourself that it contains so much goodness it must be yummy. I say “most of the time”, because we once got a bit carried away and added garlic and potato to our fruit/veg juice mix and …. uhm….. it was gross!
For an easy healthy lifestyle,
use a Juicer to drink more fruit and veg
The fact that the juice is so pure definitely makes a difference to your health and the benefits kick-in quickly.
Just as your grandma may have suggested using lemon and honey, or an orange to increase your vitamin C when you’re ill, you’ll quickly benefit from all the fruit and veg nutrients in a juiced drink.
The Nutri Juicer Plus – easy to set up when you know how
When you first separate all the parts of The Nutri Juicer Plus ready for washing, it looks like a puzzle fitting each part together.
But…. if you’ve already read the instruction booklet and/or watched the YouTube reviews, you’ll be fine.
The Nutri Juicer Plus is quite straightforward to set up and use.
The instruction booklet explains how to assemble, operate, clean and use The Nutri Juicer and has very clear photos to help troubleshoot. It even includes suggested speed settings to use for different fruit and veg, as well as some nutritional facts.
4 steps to juicing:
- choose your fruit and veg
- select the required speed
- turn on the motor
- put your fruit and veg in the food chute.
Although you should remove inedible skin (eg, mangoes and pineapple) and any hard seeds or stones (eg, apricots and peaches), there’s no need to cut your fruit and veg into small chunks as the food chute is a big enough size.
When using leafy greens, bundle them up into the food chute and place the hard fruit or veg (eg, carrots or apples) on top of the leafy greens. Pulse down with the food pusher. That way, you’ll get more juice from your leafy greens.
When would you use a Nutri Disc or a Froojie Disc?
The Nutri Disc and Froojie Disc cannot be used together.
- Nutri Disc deals with juicing the hard and leafy fruit and veg
- Froojie Disc is used for puréeing soft fruit (eg, bananas, strawberries) to make a fruit smoothie, aka a “froojie”, and when making dips, sauces, soups and ice cream.
Note, you wouldn’t usually be able to make all these with a Juicer, but they’re an included benefit of having The Nutri Juicer Plus or The Nutri Juicer Pro.
For those of you who would rather not have both a Juicer and a Blender, it means that you get the best of both worlds.
